Big Bang takes "April" award at 1st Gaon K-Pop Awards

The "1st Gaon Chart K-Pop Awards" took place at 7pm on February 22nd (KST) at the Blue Square Samsung Card Hall. 

Big Bang became one of the the "Artists of the Year" taking the #1 spot for the April of 2011 with "LOVE SONG". Big Bang were not able to attend the Awards ceremony due to schedule issues so a representative of YG Entertainment received the award on their behalf. 

The "Artists of the Year Award" is given to an artist(s) for each month and then again for each quarter for a total of 16 possible awards in the year with possible overlaps. 

On/Offline Entertainment Media Star News and Gaon Chart co-sponsored "The 1st Gaon Chart K-pop Awards" and objectivity and fairness was the top priority. The award winners were determined based on Gaon’s aggregate data (digital music, album sales).

Big Bang jumps to top of music charts with “Blue”

The first title song “Blue” of Big Bang’s five mini album ALIVE was finally unveiled on February 22 via major music-download sites such as Melon, Bugs, Olleh Music, M.net and Soribada. As soon as it was released, the song dominated the sites, showing off its undiminished popularity.

“Blue” is an emo dance song with lyrical melody and autobiographical lyrics, co-written by Teddy, a proven producer and G-Dragon. The song already attracted the focus of the attention as it was played as a background of a video image featuring interviews of Big Bang’s members. The video clip can be viewed via YG’s official blog and on TV networks. It was given favorable comments by fans: “The song makes us feel relaxed and comforted.”

Big Bang's Comeback Album Sells Over 250K Copies in Pre-Order Sales

Pre-order sales for Big Bang's comeback album have surpassed the 250,000 mark. On February 21, sources close to YG Entertainment announced the news that the mini album, set to be released on February 29, had taken in over 250,000 pre-order sales. It has been 10 months since Big Bang has put out a new album. Their previous "special album" was released in April of last year. Excluding the album intro, all six songs on this new album are being promoted as title songs.
