With the upcoming ‘MTV Daum Music Fest’ drawing near, it was recently revealed that the singers who will stand on stage to perform will be entirely in the hands of the netizens.

MTV and Daum Communication will be holding a poll from January 25th till February 8th on their respective home pages, where netizens will be able to pick their favorite artists for the festival’s lineup. The artists have been divided into a total of ten categories to match the concept of the concert, some of which include, “Dynamic”, “Sexy”, and “Trendy“.

From red carpets to the main show, the festival is currently in the works to bring out a variety of performances and large stages to match with the global festival. To further the festivities of Asian music, MTV will be broadcasting performances live from nine countries, including Japan, China, and Taiwan.

“Having the performance lineup be directly decided by the netizens, along with the fact that our representative Hallyu singers will be introduced through broadcast in other countries, we believe this will be a meaningful concert. MTV Korea will continue to take the lead role in exposing our culture and Hallyu music to the world with these colorful music festivals,” stated MTV production director Kim Chang Woo.

The ‘MTV Daum Music Fest’ will take place on February 19th at 8 PM at the Korea University Gymnasium in Seoul.

T.O.P’s solo from “Big Bang Big Show 3D” lives up to expectations

Big Bang’s highly anticipated movie, the “Big Bang Big Show 3D”, has opened to big reviews from critics and fans alike, and they agreed solidly on one of the film’s highlights –  T.O.P’s solo performance.
Taking fans back to the beginning of 2010, before his solo debut and the launch of his acting career, T.O.P’s performance of his solo song, “Act Like Nothing’s Wrong”, was re-lived in mind-blowing, state-of-the-art 3D visual and sound.
Critics have already predicted that the combination of his enormous stage presence, deep voice, and unique lyrics will surely cause any fan’s heart to flutter with sentimental reflections.
With his phenomenal concert reviews, a successful solo album, and a burgeoning acting career, this is one man that is truly at the “TOP” of his game.

Why is “Don’t Go Home” causing GD&TOP so much grief?

GD&TOP’s newest addition to their promotion cycle, “Don’t Go Home,” managed to bring out a softer and more romantic image in lieu of the duo’s ‘hardcore’ one, but the song itself is ruffling some feathers in the music industry.

After MBC banned the song twice for being too ’suggestive,’ their music video release was also postponed to a later time despite passing reviews from KBS and SBS.

The music video had originally been scheduled for a February 1st release.

Representatives from YG Entertainment revealed that they failed to understand MBC’s decision, as they firmly believed that the song didn’t contain any suggestive material whatsoever.
The company was adamant about keeping the song intact, and even went so far as to re-submit it for another evaluation without any edits.

YG’s CEO, Yang Hyun Suk, made it clear that he would not embark on any action that would interfere with the artist’s original intent, just so the song could be broadcasted.

Ultimately, it comes down to YG’s constant strive for perfection, which also comes at the cost of financial loss, as well as disappointed fans having to deal with the constant delays.

Regardless of these setbacks, however, many are expecting YG to continue their stance.
